L'Importante-Arba barometer
Ranking of women's representation in the CAC 40
Why this barometer?
The L'Importante-Arba Barometer reflects the impact of gender equality policies through gender representation, pay equity, the presence of women in strategic positions, the implementation of ambitious policies, and the level of corporate culture supporting gender equality.
It was designed to go beyond simple representation of women and men IN executive committees. The idea was also to analyze the roles held by women: Do they have positions with real strategic influence? We also examined the companies' D&I objectives and ambitions to determine whether gender balance is treated as a strategic priority or merely a formality.

"Gender diversity isn't just a question of ethics, it's a performance choice. Results are not achieved in a year: they are built over time. That's precisely why our criteria assess both figures and concrete practices. We value companies that truly transform their HR processes.

Methodology
The Barometer L'Importante-Arba Barometer of CAC40 companies at January 1, 2025 was based on data available in online URDs in 2024.
The L'Importante-Arba Barometer assesses 15 criteria, in addition to the “classic” ones such as the presence of a female CEO or Managing Director, gender representation on the executive committee and board of directors, and the Penicaud Index. Our barometer goes further by examining:
- Within executive committees, the representation of women in key leadership positions, distinguishing P&L and business roles from so-called support functions (HR, communication, legal).
- Within Boards of Directors, the representation of women in key positions, particularly as chairs of compensation, nomination, and audit committees.
- Taking into account the PENICAUD Index across all group entities, with particular attention to the often-overlooked area of top-level compensation.
- Incorporating measurable targets for gender equality.
- Concrete action on initiatives to promote paternity leave and combat sexism.
